Macademia Nut Oil, refined (DAC)

Description

Origins and characteristics: this oil is produced by mechanical pressing. The macademia tree originally comes from Australia but bit by bit, has spread to Hawaii, the Pacific, South America and South Africa. The pressed oil stands out by way of its mildly nutty taste and smell as well as its light yellow colouring. The final refining (de-acidification, bleaching and steaming) produces a very light oil with an almost neutral smell and taste.

Usage

Usage: The high levels of palmitoleic acid (c 16: 1) make this oil important for the cosmetics industry. The palmitoleic acid is bound in triglyceride and is easily absorbed into the outer skin levels. Macademia Nut Oil is used increasingly as a replacement for mink oil.
