Description
Origins and characteristics: Propolis is a versatile, natural product. It is the resinous, rubbery, balsamic substance which is secreted from certain plants. Due to its antimicrobial and germ-retardant qualities, propolis is collected by bees, slightly modified as a coating for the fortification on the honeycomb, and at the entrance to the hive, as protection. The raw propolis which is used to make propolis products, comes exclusively from South America. This raw propolis is processed by careful alcohol extraction and via subsequent fine filtration, is freed from wax and other unwanted contents. It is further processed as a fluid- or powder-form extract.- Usage
- Usage: in cosmetic ointments, creams and soaps. Furthermore it is used in sweets and capsules for oral use.
